Vitamin D3

Most of us associate vitamin D with milk. But you probably don’t drink enough of it to do a body good, unless you’re a toddler or a serial cereal eater. So what’s a health-conscious human to do?

You can always choke down A LOT of liver (not recommended) or you can enjoy some SmartyPants! We chose D3 over D2 because it’s the first form of vitamin D that your body makes from sunlight. How’s that for fun in the sun?

Vitamin K2

Vitamin K aids in bone health. It comes in two different forms: K1 and K2.

K1 is found in leafy green veggies like kale and broccoli. K2 can be found in two forms: MK-4 and MK-7. MK-4 is found in meat, while MK-7 (the one we use!) is only found naturally in natto, a fermented soy product. It has bone-building properties and lasts the longest in the bloodstream, but it’s rare in the western diet.

To help fill those nutritional gaps, we include a premium synthetic form of vitamin K2 as MK-7 that’s also soy-free!

Methylfolate for Folate

Folate is a B vitamin found naturally in foods. It helps us utilize proteins in our bodies, form new blood cells, and create new DNA.

In our Prenatal Complete, the amounts we include also help support normal early fetal development.

Folic acid is the form of folate found in most supplements. However, it must be converted into methylfolate before your body can use it.

We include the premium form of this B vitamin, methylfolate, because it doesn’t need to be converted. It’s also what your body prefers and can easily use!

Methylcobalamin for B12

B12 is a nutrient superhero! It helps make blood cells, it’s crucial for energy production, and for maintaining a healthy immune system. It’s found mainly in fish, meat, eggs, and dairy, so if you’re a vegan, you may need a supplement!

Most supplements are made with cyanocobalamin, a synthetic B12 form not naturally found in foods. We use methylcobalamin, a form that’s found in nature and is easily used by the body.

Omega-3s

Omega-3 essential fatty acids like EPA and DHA are essential for overall health and growth.

Some of the best sources of these healthy fats are wild-caught fatty fish and sea algae. The problem is, many kids and adults don’t eat enough fish (goldfish crackers don’t count) let alone algae. We include omega-3s to help fill those gaps!

For our core line SmartyPants gummies, we source our omega-3 EPA & DHA from sustainable stocks of wild-caught small fish including anchovies, sardines, herring and mackerel.

Probiotics

Normally, we wouldn’t support just being regular. But when it comes to digestion we use naturally-encapsulated, spore-forming bacteria to help support good gut health!
