I’ve finally made the transition to shampoo and conditioner bars. At first, I was apprehensive. I wasn’t sure if they’d they lather, or if they’d clean and condition as well as their liquid counterparts. To my delight, they left my hair soft, clean, and tangle-free! The best part is I’m no longer creating waste with plastic bottles.
How to Use a Shampoo & Conditioner Bar
Shampoo and conditioner bars work just like soap! For both the shampoo and conditioner bars you create a lather in your hands, apply to hair, and wash as usual. However, you can also run the bar directly through your hair to create a lather. I find applying the bar directly to your hair is the best way to use the conditioner bars to get an extra moisturizing effect!
After use, its best to store the bars outside of the shower to help them to harden and last longer. I keep my shampoo and conditioner bars on a soap dish. After washing my hair, I drain water from the dish and remove it from the shower. Another important note is that if you are using both a shampoo and a conditioner bar, keep them apart so they don’t clump together as they dry.
The Shampoo & Conditioner Bars I Love
Unwrapped Life The Hydrator Shampoo and Conditioner Bar
This was the first shampoo and conditioner set I tried and I’m so glad I did! I have thick, curly hair that tends to get quite dry in the winter. This bar was super moisturizing and left my hair grease and tangle free, exactly what I was looking for.
Buck Naked Soap Company Rhassoul Clay Shampoo Bar
What makes this bar unique is that it contains clay, which left my hair feeling soft and full of volume. This bar is great value as it can also double as a body and hand soap!
BKIND Conditioner Bar
I tried this bar as I wanted to pair it the Buck Naked Shampoo Bar. It smells amazing and my hair felt really soft and tangle-free, which is so important when you have curly hair! This bar is formulated with apricot oil, which is super moisturizing. BKIND also offers a Shampoo Bar if you’d like to be matchy matchy!
Bottle None offers a variety of bars for different hair types. I used the BE TAME, designed for coarse and curly hair. These bars left my hair soft and with frizz free curls! The bars also lather very well. You can also grab an innovative Bottle None Travel Case! They’re made from recycled plastic, and if you ever want to get rid of it you can send it back to Bottle None, they’ll break down the plastic and reuse it to make a new case.
