Fall is just around the corner and 2016 has some of the hottest trends in fall beauty, from graphic lids to red lips. This autumn features trendsetting looks that you can recreate at home with just a few must-have products. Here are my top 5 favourite looks for this fall:
Blackout
Black liner is making its way back into our makeup bags for Fall/Winter 2016. You can’t go wrong with a classic sultry eye. I love a winged liner with a bold lip or a smokey eye with a nude lip. Any way you prefer them — bold, defined eyes are all the rage.
There are so many options when choosing the right product: gel, pencil, eyeshadow, liquid are great choices in creating your personalized look. For daytime, I suggest a soft and sultry finish to the eye. Use Milani Everyday Eyes Powder Eyeshadow Collection in Earthy Elements to bring shimmering, golden browns for an eye look that’s as reminiscent of summer as it’s perfect for fall. Then line and smudge brown liner into lash line. For evening, perfect into a cat eye shape with Dr. Hauschka Kajal Eyeliner in Black for a defined and stay-put finish.
Glowing Skin
I love the look of luminous skin. It’s a gorgeous trend that’s been making its way all over the runways and is here to stay. First, minimize summer sun spots and even out skin tone with Andalou Naturals Brightening Hydro Serum Facial Mask. Then, to create an “I just got a facial” glow, I suggest Pacifica Alight Multi-Mineral BB Cream.
To highlight or strobe for a more pronounced effect, try Maybelline Facestudio Master Strobing Stick Illuminating Highlighter. Apply to cheekbones, brow bone, bridge of nose, chin and cupid’s bow for a dewy look.
Take that glowing look all over by exfoliating weekly with Lovefresh Lavender Sugar Scrub. This gentle scrub improves circulation and firmness to skin, giving you an all-over glow.
The Natural Brow
Natural and muted brows are seen on the runway this season. Many models are strutting with bleached brows, almost as if they’ve been shaved off. This fall, put away the stencils and just give your arches a quick sweep of tinted brow powder for a touch of fullness and definition. To fill in sparse areas, try Milani Brow Fix Kit in Light.
Bold Lips
Fall is all about the bold lip. Creating a vampy lip doesn’t take much skill, just a few products for the perfect feather-proof pout. Priming lips is a must. Use NYX Lip Primer to create the perfect canvas and prevent colour from bleeding.
There are many formulas to choose from, but the L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Collection Exclusive Pure Reds has a bold shade for every skin tone. You’re bound to find one that you’re comfortable with. If you have a current shade you absolutely can’t live without but the formula doesn’t last quite as long, apply a matte top coat for the lips. I love Cargo Cosmetics Matte Top Coat.
You can take the trend one step further with bold, autumn-toned nails. Try Moov Cosmetics Home Grown Canuck Collection in Canadian Wildberries, Deep Creek or True North for vampy fall nail colour.
Monochromatic Nudes
This Fall/Winter season, be prepared to bare it all. Monochromatic nude makeup is another must-try look this Fall ’16 season. Natural pinks, nudes, and beiges that compliment your skin tone are in. One shade is swept across the eyes, cheeks and lips making this look simple and versatile. For an easy monochromatic face, try Maybelline Facestudio Master Contour Kit. Or choose products with a slight shimmer in one all-over colour. I love Cargo Cosmetics Color Stick in St.Tropez, Maui and Champagne.
