Fall is officially starting this week, even though it doesn’t feel like it! Even so, I can’t wait for all the amazing things that come along with the new season! From treats that are distinctly autumn in flavour, to cozy home accents and fall beauty, there’s so much to love. It was difficult to narrow down my absolute favourite things about fall, but here are just a few of mine:
Autumn Beauty
With the changing, unpredictable weather, it’s important to have a flexible beauty routine. For me, that means keeping moisturizing in mind. The days may be hot this September, but the days are shorter and the nights are cool and dry.
So I have secret weapons. For body and hands, I use ANDALOU naturals Passion Fruit Smoothing Body Butter and Lovefresh Pear Hand and Body Lotion. And Acure Argan Oil is great as an oil cleanser. Sometimes I’ll use just a drop or two on my face before bed if my skin needs a little extra nourishing.
In the shower, I love the Pacifica Hairvana Leave On Conditioner. It helps tame any frizz caused by the dry early Autumn air. And Buck Naked Soap in Cranberry & Mint is such a treat! It combines fall classic cranberry with unexpectedly fresh mint note. Yum!
Of course, holding onto summer memories is easy to do when it’s still so warm out. But with less sun each day, I’m trying to also hold onto my summer colour! I find the Mineral Fusion Bronzer Duo helps out. And fall beauty colours are always fun, like the Moov Cosmetics Home Grown Canuck Collection in colours like True North.
Cozy Home
The aromas of autumn are some of my favourite, and I love filling my home with them. Candles such as this cute Seracon Maple Tin Candle with a Wooden Wick are perfect, as are the chic NOW Solutions Ultrasonic Real Bamboo Diffuser combined with the NOW Essential Oils Let There Be Peace & Quiet Relaxing Essential Oils Kit.
There’s something so delicious about curling up with a cup of tea and the aden + anais Classic Day Dream Blanket in Ocean Edge on a blustery or rainy fall day. My older kids, Madeleine and Alex, can cozy up in this adult-sized blanket, while baby Henry stays warm in an aden + anais Cozy Plus Sleeping Bag.
Speaking of tea, some of my go-to teas for cool fall days have rich flavours. They include Tea Forte Limited Edition Winter Chai Loose Tea Canister and Pukka Three Ginger Tea.
Litterless Lunch
I’m definitely on a journey to ‘go green’, and I’ve already switched over my entire makeup bag to natural products. So as part of that effort, I’m really into litterless lunch options. And lunch doesn’t always have to be carried in a lunch bag. I personally love this fall coloured and trendy Fjallraven Kanken Backpack Forest Green & Ox Red.
And for lunch itself, bentos like the cute Monbento MB Square in Light Blue are an all-in-one solution that hold tons of food! Of course, plastic water bottles are verboten in a litterless lunch, so I carry my drinks in this gorgeous S’well Gem Collection Pink Diamond bottle.
For My Kids
With school underway, I’m busy getting my kids ready for fall weather. Madeleine has just started junior kindergarten, and her walks to school in the rain will be more comfortable once she has the K-Way Lily Thermo Plus Double Reversible Jacket in Imperial Purple to keep her dry. There’s also one in Royal Blue for my first grader, Alex. To go with the jacket, there’s also these cute Stonz Rain Bootz in Yellow & Black and a Skip Hop Zoo Little Kid Umbrella in Owl.
I’m also working hard to get my kids back into a morning routine, and that includes vitamins. The Genestra HMF Fit for School Probiotic Formula is a tasty chewable that’s great for coughs. And when cold & flu seaon hits, Ener-C 1,000 mg Vitamin C Effervescent Drink Mix can be mixed with water to make it easy for kids to take. Plus, anything to avoid those sick days is a must!
Those are just some of my faves for fall, but what are yours? Do you have products that you go back to every autumn? I’d love to read about them in the comments below!
