Hi J! Thanks for your question! The epsom salts are absolutely great for soothing and relaxing, especially if you’ve got sore muscles or any tension in your body. Baking soda is thought to be detoxifying and also helps leave you with silkier, smoother skin, and natural sea salt is full of skin-boosting minerals and helps to calm skin inflammation, so that’s why they’re included in this recipe. If you prefer to just use epsom salts, though, you can just omit the sea salt and baking soda and add more epsom salt — you’ll still wind up with a soothing, relaxing bath salt recipe.
I hope that helps! 🙂

Do the bath salts have a shelf life? Most cosmetics have symbols on the packaging indicating how long the product lasts once opened. I’m not sure if that kind of thing applies in this situation.

Why the baking soda? The epsom salts are better than sea salt for relaxing and soothing, aren’t they? Why add the sea salts?
Just starting to look up this stuff, any info appreciated, thanks.
