Berry Smoothie – “Berry Boost”
Ingredients
- 1 cup of fresh or frozen mixed berries
- ¾ cup of unsweetened almond/rice/hemp milk
- ½ ripe banana
- 3 tbsp hemp hearts
- 3 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp coconut oil
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp Hawaiian Spirulina Powder
- Add water to desired consistency
Directions
Blend above ingredients in a high efficiency blender (think Blendtec/Vitamix/Nutrabullet). If you do not have access to one, make sure you chop the ingredients into small pieces to ensure optimal blending.
Naturopathic tip: Spirulina is an edible algae that is jam packed with phytochemicals, vitamins and minerals. Typical side effects include increased energy levels and improved immune system. It is also particularly high in an antioxidant known as, “zeaxanthin,” which can improve eyesight.
