Back to School Beauty: How to Save Time in Your Routine
It’s that time of year again; kids are going back to school, which means earlier mornings, and a couple of extra to do’s. But that doesn’t mean you have to give up your morning beauty routine.
Whether you’ve got to get the kids to school or get to class yourself, there are a few ways you can simplify without sacrificing.
Use a Moisturizing Body Scrub
One of my favourite ways to save time in the shower is to use a moisturizing body scrub. You’ll be able to exfoliate and moisturize your skin all at once. You’ll save time (and money) by going without the body lotion, but your skin will still be soft and smooth.
Look for a scrub made with nourishing oils like olive, coconut, or sunflower. You can even mix your own with one cup of sugar, half of a cup of plant based oils, and ten drops of your favourite essential oil.
Skip The Cleanser
We’re often told that we need to cleanse twice a day, but the reality is that most people won’t benefit from cleansing their skin more often. Over cleansing can cause dryness and irritation, which can disturb your skin’s natural balance and create more skin issues like acne. (Source)
If you have dry, sensitive, or even combination skin, you can benefit from cleansing only at night. Your skin will be less agitated, more balanced, and you’ll save a minute or two each morning.
If you have oily or acne prone skin, you’re more likely to need to cleanse twice a day. You can experiment by going without a second cleanse for a week and observing how your skin looks and feels. If you prefer a second cleanse, you can still keep things simple with the Meow Meow Tweet Tea Tree Charcoal Bar Soap.
Opt for a Day Cream with Sun Protection
Using sun protection is important for your skin’s health and appearance. It’s also important because too much sun exposure can increase your risk of skin cancer. (Source)
To save time, opt for a day cream with sun protection. You won’t have to worry about using two separate products, but you’ll still moisturize and protect your skin.
Go for a One Step Hair Routine
Whether you wash your hair in the morning or night, your morning hair care routine can take up a lot of time. Keep things simple with one product that does it all.
The Acure Organics Dry Shampoo (also available for brunette hair colours) is more than a dry shampoo. While it absorbs the excess hair oils, it adds lift, volume, texture, and hold. Unlike a lot of dry shampoos, this won’t weigh your hair down or cause build up. Instead of using multiple products, you can save time by using one.
While weekday mornings can be hectic, there’s no reason to wake up at the crack of dawn to take a shower or skip your beauty routine altogether. With a few simplifying tricks you’ll be out the door in no time.
