Fall has finally arrived! And although it means lovely things such as multicoloured falling leaves and sweater weather, it also means that your skin might be going through a seasonal transition. With cooler, drier air comes different skin care needs. Thankfully, there are so many products that can help ease the change in seasons!

One of the biggest changes, with the change in temperature, is the change in humidity. If you haven’t already, during the weeks ahead your face, hands, and lips may start to feel slightly less comfortable than they did over those balmy summer months. And when heaters get turned off for the first time since last spring, the air will dry out outside and inside.

Hands & Lips

For hands, try Jonzac’s Intense Nourishing Hand Cream, especially if cool wind make your hands crack. And lips, which don’t produce their own moisture, always need protection from the elements. Heal them with Pacifica Naked Quench Lip Balm.

Daily Hydration

Of course, your face will need some skin care specifically for autumn as well. If you already have dry skin, try a cleanser that won’t strip oils such as Whistler Naturals Soy Face Cleansing Lotion. Or Pacifica’s Cactus Water Micellar Cleansing Tonic is a super gentle makeup remover that won’t dry out your skin even more. Follow it up with an equally gentle toner like Whistler Naturals Lemongrass Green Tea Tonic and the Living Nature Nourishing Day Cream or Whistler Naturals Avocado Basil Anti-Aging Moisture Whip for deep hydration at night.

Daily Balancing

And although the summer is over, that doesn’t mean you’ll want to skip on acne-fighting and oil balancing products if you have combination or oily skin. The weather may have changed, but you might be finding that your skin needs have not. Try Acure’s amazing Brightening Facial Scrub to really exfoliate and remove oil, dirt and dead skin cells. Then follow it with the Dr. Hauschka Facial Toner and then the Indie Lee Blemish Lotion for its moisturizing and blemish fighting properties. Or if oil rather than acne is your concern, Sukin Mattifying Facial Moisturizer can help you be oil free. You can also toss Pacifica’s Enzymatic Exfoliating Wipes in a bag or purse for cleansing on the go.

Major Dehydration

If you’re suffering from serious dehydration as the autumn slowly turns colder, you can try LaVigne Organic Skincare Mayan Magic Balm on face or hands. For face, Indie Lee’s Squalene Facial Oil is incomparable! Squalene is a component of our skin’s natural oils, and this squalene has been sourced from olives. When you press just two or three drops of this serum into your skin, it sinks in effortlessly and helps balance moisture.

Weekly Treatments

Beyond day to day cleansing, toning and moisturizing, you can try treatments, serums and masks that can help you transition to a cold weather routine. Pure Anada Awake Eye Gel is made from soothing cucumber and aloe that help retain moisture in the delicate skin around your eyes, and Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses Moroccan Sensitive Beauty Oil penetrates skin deeply to deliver super effective moisture to thirsty skin. If an oil is too much hydration for you, Andalou Naturals also has a Soothing Hydro Serum Facial sheet mask that you can use on a weekly instead of daily basis.

If hydration is not what you need, but you’re still looking for a deep treatment, Whistler Naturals has a Sugar Apple Renewal Masque to help with cellular turnover. And if you’re looking to extend your summer tan, try Hylamide Booster Glow for that lit-from-within look into the cooler months.
