Smoothies are a busy girl’s best friend. They’re quick, nutritionally dense, easy to make with any number of ingredients, and can be taken on the go. But occasionally I find myself in a smoothie rut. I’ve cycled through all my usual favourites and the thought of another smoothie is just too boring! Fortunately, I’ve got a handful of delicious, non-smoothie protein powder recipes that I turn to whenever this happens.
1.) Protein Waffle Ice Cream Sandwich from Vega
What could be better than a waffle ice-cream sandwich? One that also happens to be gluten free, vegan, and packed full of protein! All the boxes get checked with this recipe and it’s a big crowd pleaser too. The perfect after dinner treat as the weather starts to warm up, or any time hunger strikes.
Pairs Best with: Vega Sport Protein Chocolate Flavour
2.) Peanut Butter Protein Cookies from Well Plated
These cookies as so ridiculously good you’ll forget they’re packed with protein. They’re soft, chewy, and everything else you’d expect from a good cookie, but they double as a post-workout snack or afternoon pick me up. I like to take them to the next level by using a fun protein flavour like the Vegan S’mores Protein Powder by Natreve.
Pairs Best with: Natreve Vegan Protein S’mores Sundae
3.) Protein Pancakes from Pinch of Yum
Protein Pancakes are a classic and they’re almost as quick and easy to make as a smoothie. This awesome recipes from Pinch of Yum skips the refined sugar and is a Sunday morning staple in my house. I like to up the ante by changing up which protein powder I add in. My current favourite is the Blueberry Muffin flavour from Alani Nu. To double up on the blueberry flavour, I also add fresh blueberries to the batter and the results are always amazing!
Pairs Best with: Alani Nu Whey Protein Blueberry Muffin
4.) Chili Lime Hot Wings from Quest Nutrition
If savory flavours are your thing, this recipe is the one for you. The Quest Chili Lime Tortilla Style Protein Chips are amazing all by themselves but using them to bread homemade chicken fingers or wings is genius. The Chili Lime flavour is a favorite of mine, but the BBQ and Ranch flavours are just as good, so feel free to get creative.
Pairs Best with: Quest Nutrition Protein Tortilla Chips Chili Lime
5.) Vanilla Almond Butter Protein Granola from Running with Spoons
I can often be found making a double batch of this delicious granola on a Sunday night as part of my meal-prep routine. It’s great for breakfast with yogurt, on top of ice cream for dessert, or any time all by itself. I love that it stores well and doesn’t include heaps of sugar like many store-bought options.
Pairs Best with: Kaizen Naturals Whey Protein Powder Cinnamon Bun
6.) Protein Parfait with Oats and Berries from A Healthy Plate
This protein parfait is so quick and easy, and it keeps me full until lunch. I like to use plain Greek yogurt for this recipe, because I find the protein powder and fresh fruit adds more than enough sweetness.
Pairs Best with: Profi Plant-Based Protein Powder Vanilla
7.) Banana Protein Muffins from The Clean Eating Couple
I love that these muffins only have a handful of ingredients and they can be frozen, which is always a bonus! They’re great as a post-workout snack or an afternoon treat to get me to my next meal.
Pairs Best with: Natreve Vegan Protein Banana Split
8.) Peanut Butter Protein Bars from Well Plated
These are another one of my meal-prep favourites! They’re so easy to make and then I know I have a high protein, healthy snack to reach for any time. The recipe is perfect as is, but I’ll often switch it up and add different nuts, seeds, and dried fruit.
Pairs Best with: Nuts For Protein Powder Peanut Butter
9.) Savory Pizza Protein Muffins from Better Nutrition
These pizza protein muffins are approved by adults and kids alike. They’re full of flavourful ingredients so you’d never know there’s so much protein hiding inside. Just make sure you use an unsweetened protein powder for this one!
Pairs Best with: Vega One Unsweetened Natural Flavoured – Stevia Free!
10.) No Bake Protein Balls – 4 Ways from Eating Bird Food
There are a tone of recipes out there for homemade protein balls. What I love about this one is that it gives you a base recipe that you can build off and add your own flair and flavours to. My personal favourite is the Tahini Chocolate Chip!
